Welcome To The Neighborhood

We are Louisa Heights, a world's fair era subdivision, established in 1906 and located in Kirkwood, MO., about 12 miles southwest of St. Louis. Our subdivision includes the streets of Altus, Frieda, Nelda, Joe, & Duley Avenues and parts of Couch and Ann Avenue. Louisa Heights is in a prime Kirkwood location, easily accessible to both I-44 and I-270.

Louisa Heights housing is diverse, in both style and age. One of Kirkwood's Landmarks status homes - the Couch House - c.1850 is located in Louisa Heights.  It is one of only four or five surviving Gothic revival buildings in Kirkwood.  The Couch House was originally situated on 59 acres.  By 1909, the property was subdivided into Louisa Heights.

Our heritage is rich, featuring a limestone quarry and eleven homes  which are either partially or entirely constructed from limestone that was excavated from the quarry. Century old oak trees and lush vegetation grace our tree lined streets, and when driving down Ann Avenue, you may feel like you have entered a garden district!

Louisa Heights is family friendly and well located in the desirable Kirkwood R-7 School District, a short ten minute walk from Robinson Elementary School. Middle schoolers (grades 6-8) may attend Nipher Middle; while high schoolers may become a KHS Pioneer by attending Kirkwood High School. Meramec Junior college is also within a half mile of Louisa Heights.

Our neighborhood is among Kirkwood's most walkable & bike-friendly locales. Many families walk to Kirkwood Park to enjoy this 100 acre crowned jewel in the center of Kirkwood, or to partake in activities at the Kirkwood Community Center or swim at the popular aquatic facility.

Starting in 2009, Louisa Heights is home to construction of Aberdeen Heights, a Continuing Care Retirement Community that will be built at the former site of St. Joseph Hospital on Couch Avenue.

Louisa Heights.org is the "go-to place" to get information regarding the latest happenings or events of interest in our neighborhood.  One of our current projects is collection of historical information about Louisa Heights, which can be added to our web site.  In the future we plan to add a history page, which will be an archive for information about our historical subdivsion.
